Alleged wrong-way drunk driver charged in head-on crash
Once at the hospital, police said she became combative and had to be restrained.
44-year-old Jennifer Reed, who has now been charged with DUI and assualt among others, was driving the wrong way in the northbound lanes of I-265 when she collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Vijay Patel. Her vehicle then continued to strike another car, driven by John Abbott. Patel sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was transported the hospital via helicopter, while Reed sustained more minor injuries to her head and face, and Abbot was uninjured. Reed apparently became violent at the hospital, and toxicology tests eventually showed her BAC to be 0.388, leading to numerous charges.
After an injury car accident, take these steps to help the recovery process
When someone has been injured in a car crash, it's hard to know what to do to help. Injured people need appropriate medical treatment, but they also need to have their civil and legal rights protected.
After a serious crash, several steps need to be taken, including informing the insurance companies, tracking and documenting lost income from missed work, and coordinating medical bill payments. These are difficult tasks to manage when someone is dealing with severe injuries.
