Lachney had just completed a right-hand curve on the highway when his motorcycle crossed over to the westbound lane and then into a ditch. The motorcycle then struck a driveway embankment, which police said launched the Yamaha into the air and ejected Lachney from the motorcycle.
A 35-year-old Maurepas man died Thursday evening (Sept. 24) when his motorcycle crashed on Highway 22 east of Highway 16 in Livingston Parish, Louisiana State Police said. Authorities said Irvin W. Lachney was traveling "at a high rate of speed" on his 2000 Yamaha motorcycle when he lost control of the motorcycle around 6:45 p.m. Lachney was wearing a helmet at the time, police said. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales, police said, where he was pronounced dead.
