Patrick G. Breaux, 22, killed in two car crash on LA Hwy 74 in Ascension Parish on July 19.

Shortly before 1:45 pm on July 19, 2014, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred on LA Hwy 74 at LA Hwy 938 (KC Road) in Ascension Parish. The crash took the life of 22 year old Patrick G. Breaux of Gonzales, LA.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as 22 year old Sara B. Andrews of Baton Rouge was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima southbound on KC Road. At the same time 35 year old Robert Deaton of Geismar was driving a 2008 Infiniti FX35 westbound on LA Hwy 74. Andrews was stopped at the stop sign of KC Road and LA Hwy 74, then proceeded through the intersection as Deaton was traveling westbound. As a result Deaton’s Infiniti stuck the Nissan.

Breaux sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash despite the fact that he was wearing his seatbelt. Both Andrews and Deaton were properly restrained and suffered only minor to moderate injuries. Driver impairment is not suspected on the part of either driver; however, toxicology samples were taken from both and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
