Brothers dead in early morning Assumption Parish crash

Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night. "Taking the time to buckle up every trip and every time is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash."

Brothers killed in single-vehicle wreck

Impairment is suspected, Harrell said in the news release. Toxicology tests are pending.
Two Assumption Parish brothers were killed Sunday morning after a car one of the brothers was driving crashed into trees off Louisiana 70 in Assumption, Louisiana. Todd Ponville, 48, of Pierre Part, and Troy Ponville, 49, of Napoleonville, who were not wearing seat belts, were pronounced dead on the scene of the accidnet by the Assumption Parish Coroner's Office. The 2008 Chevrolet Corvette was travelling at high rate of speed westbound on Louisiana 70 in Pierre Part when it took a hard right curve at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday and lost control. As the Corvette negotiated the curve, it crossed the centerline and began to rotate counter clockwise as it traveled off the left side of the highway. The Corvette struck several trees causing the two unrestrained occupants to be thrown from the vehicle. State Police said it is unclear which brother was driving the car at the time of the crash. Police claimed impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash and that toxicology tests are pending for both occupants.
