Pineville woman killed in Lafayette Parish crash
A 27-year-old Pineville woman died Sunday afternoon after she lost control of her sport-utility vehicle on Interstate 49 near Carencro and hit several trees, according to Louisiana State Police.

According to Louisiana State Police, Jessica Short of Pineville was driving northbound on I-49 around 4 p.m. Sunday when her 2012 Ford Explorer ran off the right side of the roadway, crossed the service road, traveled through a ditch, and struck several trees. Short was transported to Lafayette General Hospital in critical condition, where she died.
