Sitting in the backseat, and wearing his seatbelt was Sloan McDow, 14, of Folsom. He died at the scene from injuries he sustained in the crash.
A high-speed crash in Covington Saturday morning ended in the death of a 14-year-old Folsom boy. Sloan McDow died after a car being driven by Brandon Bigner, 21, collided with an 18-wheeler on U.S. 190. Troopers pulled the car over for speeding over 100 mph just before the crash. A 14-year-old boy was driving the car at that time. While a trooper was talking to the 14-year-old outside the car, Bigner moved into the driver's seat and fled. About two miles west Bigner crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with an 18-wheeler driven by Walker Hurt, 62. Bigner was ejected and suffered severe injuries. McDow, who was sitting in the back seat, was pronounced deceased at the crash site. Hurt suffered minor injuries.
