Louisiana State Police say that two people are dead after a wrong-way driver hit another vehicle head on.
Police say 32-year-old Brandon Craig of Franklinton was driving a 2011 Kia north on the southbound lanes.
The Kia struck a 2006 Chevrolet driven by 31-year-old Conrad Hebert of Tickfaw head on, police say.
Newton Matthews, 59, of St. Amant, driving a 2004 Honda, was traveling behind the Chevrolet and attempted to avoid the crash. Matthews rolled through vehicle fluids that were on the roadway, lost control and crashed into the guardrail, according to police.
Craig was pronounced dead on the scene, and impairment is suspected, police say.
Hebert was brought to a hospital where he died, according to police.
Two passengers in the Kia who were not wearing seat belts, 22-year-old Kori Goldsby of Walker and 29-year-old Jason Trahan of St. Amant, were brought to local hospitals with moderate injuries.
Matthews sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment.
