Man who died in eastern New Orleans traffic crash identified

Cruz-Andino was behind the wheel of a Ford Ranger pickup heading west on Lake Forest near Crowder Boulevard about 10:35 p.m. when he lost control and hit a tree, according to a preliminary New Orleans police report.

Orleans Parish authorities have identified a man killed Tuesday night (July 15) in a single-vehicle crash in eastern New Orleans.

Diogenes Cruz-Andino was pronounced dead at the scene about 11 p.m. in the 8700 block of Lake Forest Boulevard, said John Gagliano, chief investigator for the Orleans Parish coroner's office. He died from injuries sustained in the crash, Gagliano said.

Gagliano did not know Cruz-Andino's age or address.

Results of a toxicology test are pending, Gagliano said.

Cruz-Andino was behind the wheel of a Ford Ranger pickup heading west on Lake Forest near Crowder Boulevard about 10:35 p.m. when he lost control and hit a tree, according to a preliminary New Orleans police report.

He was the only occupant of the truck, and no one else was injured, NOPD said.
