Terrytown cyclist killed by suspected drunk driver

The incident is still under investigation as troopers await the results of a toxicology test of Dejean's blood, police said.

Terrytown cyclist victim identified by State Police

The cyclist killed in Terrytown on Saturday evening by a driver who may have been intoxicated was identified by State Police as 52-year-old Bernard Jones, of Terrytown.
A Belle Chasse man was arrested for suspicion of driving drunk when he hit and killed a bicyclist Saturday in Terrytown. He then collided with another car, injuring three more people. Jason Dejean, 34, was charged with driving while intoxicated, vehicular homicide, and three counts of vehicular negligent injuring. The cyclist was traveling on Behrman Highway when Dejean hit him. Dejean then continued traveling north to colide with a Chevrolet Monte Carlo and injure a 23-year-old Gretna woman and two passengers inside. The cyclist was pronounced deceased at the crash site. The Gretna woman, Vanessa Carbijal-Miranda, and the two passengers suffered minor and moderate injuries.
