Jefferson Parish deputy in critical condition after accident

Deputy Jarone Fountain was responding to a call of a burglary on Primrose Lane when he lost control of his vehicle.

The April 19 benefit will raise funds for Jaron Fountain, whose vehicle spun out of control in June 2014 as he was traveling to respond to a reported burglary in Waggaman.

The event is April 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the LASER building at 1801 West Bank Expressway in Harvey. The event will feature live music by Crescent City Soul and a special appearance by Rockin Dopsie. Tickets, which must be purchased in advance, are $25 for adults. Children 12 and under get in free.

A Jefferson Parish deputy is in the hospital after being hurt in a car accident Tuesday morning. Col. John Fortunato said the accident happened on Live Oak Boulevard in Waggaman shortly after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Fortunato said Deputy Jarone Fountain was responding to a call of a burglary on Primrose Lane when he lost control of his vehicle. The deputy was escorted to the LSU Interim Hospital in Mid-City where he is being treated for his injuries.

He is listed in critical condition.
