Kelby Pilcher, 16, killed and Michael Fair, 18, injured in head-on pickup crash on Highway 118 near Florien, Louisiana

Just before midnight Saturday, Kelby Pilcher of Florien was eastbound on State Highway 118 four miles east of Florien in a GM pickup when the vehicle veered over the center line and crashed head-on into a 2008 Chevy truck driven by Michael Fair, 18, of Many. Pilcher suffered traumatic internal injuries and died in the crash, while Fair was taken to Sabine Medical Center by Med Express, where he was treated and released. The crash remains under investigation by the Louisiana State Police. Fog and light rain were reported in the area at the time of the crash, but it is unknown if weather was a factor.
