Two hurt in Searsport motorcycle crash

SEARSPORT, Maine — A Massachusetts couple were injured Tuesday morning after the motorcycle they were riding sustained a blown rear tire, causing them to crash on U.S. Route 1. The accident happened at 9:55 a.m., said Searsport Police Chief Dick LaHaye, just after Wayne and Mary Connolly of Lowell, Massachusetts, had crossed into Searsport from Belfast. The speed limit there is 55 mph, LaHaye said, adding that he believes they were traveling slower than the limit because their injuries were not more severe. Also, both were wearing helmets, he said.
