Train No. 695 has been stopped on the tracks near the Route 9 overpass since about 7 p.m. That train left Boston for Portland around 5 p.m.

An Amtrak spokeswoman told the Portland Press Herald that the collision occurred on a section of track where there is no crossing and the maximum speed for the train would be 60 mph.

The accident occurred 11 miles north of Dover, New Hampshire, on a section of track where there are no crossings and the maximum speed for the train is 60 mph.
The train has been stopped for awhile since investigators had to clear the scene. The train's crew are going to be relieved.
