Maryland State trooper charged with DUI after crash - WTOP

State Police say troopers charged Hobbs at the hospital with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, negligent driving, and reckless driving. His police powers have been suspended and he is suspended from duty with pay. Police found 26-year-old Trooper Thomas C. Hobbs inside the car. The department says Hobbs is assigned to the aviation command as a rescue technician at the Frederick barracks.

Md. State Trooper Crashes While Driving Drunk

A state trooper is on probation for driving under the influence early Thursday morning after being involved in a single vehicle crash in Cecil County. The first officer to reach the scene found the driver, later identified as a state trooper, showing signs of intoxication while still in the vehicle. Maryland State Police troopers responded to the report of an overturned vehicle on Route 279, north of Appleton Road. Hobbs has been employed by the Maryland State Police for 17 months, and he is currently a patient at the hospital.
