My Yuen Nguyen, 18, killed in single vehicle crash on June 8 on St. Mary's Road.
Victim of fatal Pylesville crash identified; speed, alcohol believed to be factors
Alcohol and speed are believed to have contributed to Sunday night's crash in Pylesville, which killed a young Delaware woman returning from a trip to part of Rocks State Park, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said Monday.
My Yuen Nguyen, 18, of Bear, Del., was in the front passenger seat of a Ford F-250 pick-up truck that hit a utility pole, ejecting her from the vehicle, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Cristie Kahler said.
Ms. Nguyen and three other young people had been visiting the park's Kilgore Falls area, Kahler said.
The driver of the truck, Pedro Rivera, 23, of Wilmington, Del., was not injured, nor were the other two passengers, Gabriel Pineda, 18, and Yareli Garduno, 18, of Newark, Del.
"At this time, it is believed alcohol and speed were contributing factors," Kahler wrote in a news release. "Per policy, all fatal crashes are referred to the State's Attorney's Office for review and appropriate charges."
Kahler said she did not know the speed the truck was traveling.
The truck had been headed east in the 1000 block of St. Mary's Road at about 7:27 p.m., Kahler said.
Westbound St. Mary's Road was closed for two hours for accident reconstruction, according to the Sheriff's Office.
