95-year-old Bethesda Woman Dies While Crossing TheStreet

BETHESDA, Md. (AP) — A 95-year-old woman has been killed after being struck by a car while crossing the street. Montgomery County police say that Margaret McDowell Wydro was crossing an intersection Wednesday evening when a 30-year-old driver from Washington hit her. Wydro’s son, Bill Wydro, says his mother was on her way to go bowling. Police have not said whether the driver will be charged for the collision. A police accident reconstruction team is investigating and trying to determine whether the victim was using the crosswalk and if the light was in her favor.

At 95, she was walking to her bowling league when she was hit by car

Wednesday, she left her home, walked to River Road and tried to cross to get to a bowling alley for one of her duckpin league matches. This is the last time I’m going to have to spend with her, Bill Wydro thought, even in this condition. His mother, Marge Wydro, became the ninth pedestrian killed in Montgomery County this year. The suddenness of it all stunned Bill Wydro, 69, who tried to take an upbeat tone Thursday inside his mother’s home. They met, later married, had two children, and in 1963 settled into a home on Springfield Drive, two houses down from River Road.
