Authorities said they believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in a crash that killed an 18-year-old man in Frederick, Md., late Sunday night.

Authorities said they believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in a crash that killed an 18-year-old man in Frederick, Md., late Sunday night.

Frederick County sheriff's deputies said they arrived at the scene of the crash around 11:40 p.m. Sunday, where a 2000 Pontiac traveling south had left the roadway and hit a guardrail and a tree.

The driver of the Pontiac, Timothy Jacob Burdette, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 5300 block of Buffalo Road.

The investigation is ongoing.
