Police say Ferrell had donned a reflective vest and activated white strobe lights on his pickup to alert other drivers. Police said Thursday that state and local authorities in Maryland and Pennsylvania are involved in the search for a heavy-duty pickup truck or larger vehicle pulling a car trailer. They say the truck would have obvious damage on the passenger side. Tuesday on the northbound shoulder of U.S. 15 a few miles south of Thurmont. Now the reward is being increased for information in his death, after no one has come forward with information about the driver who struck him. The Maryland Troopers Association is offering an additional reward of $1,000 for information, as is a donor who wishes to remain anonymous. The striking vehicle did briefly pull over north of the crash before continuing north. The initial reward for information offered by Metro Crime Stoppers was up to $2,000, but that reward has more than doubled this week, thanks to a donation of $2,500 from the National Warriors Foundation. Once Ferrell was struck, the motorist from the disabled vehicle tried to divert traffic away from the marine’s body.
