Braintree woman, 27, killed in Southeast Expressway crash; cause under investigation.
State Police are investigating a crash on the Southeast Expressway in Boston that killed a 27-year-old Braintree woman early today, officials said.
Alycia Rice, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, swerved to the left and crashed into a concrete barrier at 3:09 a.m, State Police said today in a statement.
She was extricated from her 2013 Hyundai Accent by Boston firefighters and rushed in an ambulance to Boston Medical Center. She died of her injuries shortly thereafter, according to Trooper Todd Nolan, a State Police spokesman.
Rice was driving southbound and about to merge from the HOV lane onto the main highway near Exit 18 when she swerved, Nolan said.
The left and middle lanes were closed for about 2½ hours to accommodate rescuers and investigators.
