Male pedestrian seriously injured, transported to hospital, after being struck by a car near the intersection of Melnea Cass Boulevard and Washington Streets in the Roxbury area of Boston.

A pedestrian was struck by a car in Roxbury Monday evening, sending him to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.

An adult male was walking in the area of Melnea Cass Boulevard and Washington Street when he was hit by at car at about 9:10 p.m., said a police spokesman.

The unidentified victim was taken to an area hospital with injuries that appeared to be life-threatening, police said.

The driver stayed at the scene, and police are investigating the circumstances of the crash. No additional information was immediately available.
