The facts and circumstances of the crash, including why Cheries was traveling in the wrong direction on the ramp, remain under investigation by Troop C of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
On Tuesday evening at about 7, a car was traveling the wrong way on the westbound side of Route 2 at the Exit 27 ramp when it collided with a tractor trailer. Police say the car became wedged under the truck, trapping the driver, Judith Cheries of Leominster, inside her vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, a 46-year-old Somerveille man, was not hurt.
