17-year-old bicyclist seriously injured, transported to hospital, after he is struck by a car, driven by a 21-year-old man, who fled the scene, on Everett Street in Easthampton.

A 21-year-old city man, who told police he was responsible for the vehicle accident that seriously injured a 17-year-old bicyclist Thursday night, will be summoned to Northampton District Court to answer to the charges, police said. The accident was reported shortly after 9:15 p.m. near 60 Everett Street which is in the area of St. Brigid’s Cemetery. The 17-year-old victim was taken by ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton and then transferred to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. The victim’s condition was not immediately available Friday. Police said, however, that he suffered non-life-threatening leg injuries. Police said the suspect went to the police station some five hours later to report his involvement in the accident. Alberti declined to release his name pending arraignment. He faces charges of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and driving with a suspended license.
