Police say a snowmobile rider has died after being pulled from Congamond Lake in Southwick on Saturday night.
Southwick man dies in snowmobile crash
Authorities say 45-year-old Wayne Szczpanik, of Southwick, died Saturday night while snowmobiling night on the Congamond Lakes.
A snowmobile rider is dead after falling into Congamond Lake in Southwick, Massachusetts. Investigators concluded that the male snowmobiler apparently tried to ride from an icy area across an area of open water in a concrete culvert, where he crashed and fell off his snowmobile at approximately 8:30 p.m. His friends found him lying with his back up in the water and began CPR. Emergency responders pulled him from the lake took him to Noble Hospital where he determined he was dead at around 9:30 p.m. Investigators are still working at the site of the accident.
