A woman suffered serious injuries after police said she caused a two-vehicle crash when she took her eyes off the road.

A woman suffered serious injuries after police said she caused a two-vehicle crash when she took her eyes off the road. Rescue personnel were dispatched around 11:46 a.m. Wednesday to the scene on M-140 south of Dwight Boyer Road in Watervliet Township in Berrien County. Tamara Garca, 40, was driving north with front-seat passenger Brian Jackson, 37, both from Holland. Jackson told police Garca tried to pick up something from the floor and drove into the path of a southbound box truck, resulting in both vehicles colliding, according to a news release from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office. Garca was taken to a hospital for treatment to serious injuries. Janes Mosier, 54, from Dowagiac was driving the truck.
