Police said the trouble started when a semi-truck collided with another vehicle, driven by a Grand Rapids woman. The woman's vehicle went into the median while the semi-truck driver was able to pull off to the right side of the road.
The driver of another westbound vehicle, carrying the two Illinois men, then lost control and the vehicle struck the rear of the semi-truck.

The crash occurred about 10 a.m. Saturday in New Buffalo Township.

The department got help for the investigation and traffic control from the New Buffalo Township Fire Department and police from Chikaming Township and New Buffalo and Pokagon Tribal Police.
