Woman ejected from car, dies in Michigan crash

Authorities say a 24-year-old woman has been killed after being ejected from a speeding car that collided with a semitrailer in Michigan’s northwestern Lower Peninsula.

A 24-year-old Caledonia woman was killed early Saturday when the car she was traveling in collided with a semi-trailer on M115 in Clam Lake Township, authorities said.

The car the woman was riding in lost control and hit an oncoming truck. The back part of the car where the woman was sleeping was sheared off in the collision. The driver fled but was later arrested. Alcohol, drugs or both are believed to be factors in the crash.The victim’s name hasn’t been released. Everyone else involved in the crash suffered minor injuries.
