The driver of a tanker that crashed Thursday and burst into flames on I-75 just south of Detroit has died. The driver worked for Corrigan Oil Company. The southbound lanes reopened later in the day, but the Michigan Department of Transportation said northbound lanes could be closed a week for repairs. Our thoughts and prayers will remain with the driver'€™s wife and two daughters during these tough times.'€ The crash closed the freeway in both directions for several hours. The company released the following statement on Friday: '€œWe are deeply saddened by the loss of a longtime member of the Corrigan family,'€ said Mike Corrigan, president of Corrigan Oil Company. '€œCorrigan Oil has been family owned for over 50 years and considers every employee to be a part of that family.

Authorities say the 53-year-old truck driver who was severely burned when his vehicle crashed and burst into flames on I-75 near Detroit has died. The tanker struck the median wall, flipped over onto the northbound side of the freeway and erupted in flames. Thursday on I-75 just south of Schaefer Avenue in Melvindale.
