Car crash in Roseville kills resident

Roseville police suspect a combination of speed and alcohol consumption was the cause of an early morning car crash Thursday that killed a city resident. All or portions of 12 Mile Road between I-94 and Little Mack were closed for hours during the on-scene investigation. Accident investigators determined Caughey was traveling west on 12 Mile Road approaching Congress, just east of Interstate 94, but inexplicably lost control of his car. Officers who responded at 1:17 a.m. to the crash on 12 Mile Road near Congress Street saw a 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo had left the road and struck a tree. According to one broadcast news report, the Monte Carlo was virtually wrapped around the tree and first responders had to extricate the crash victim.
