Sources told Local 4 the man was in his late 40s and lit a firework off his head.
Walled Lake man killed by firework in front of family
Walled Lake Police Chief Paul Shakinas said the man's family was devastated as it happened in front of them at about 9:14 p.m. Sunday at a home on the 1500 block of Quinif Drive. Alcohol was a factor, Shakinas added. The Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office found the death to be accidental, caused by blunt-force trauma to the head.
Man killed in ‘horrific’ fireworks accident in Walled Lake, police say
First responders arrived and found Jeffers unresponsive and suffering from severe head trauma from a mortar type of firework. Several people were at the home. Jeffers was pronounced dead at the scene and alcohol was a factor, police said.
Walled Lake firecracker death ruled an accident

Police says alcohol was involved in the incident, which occurred at about 9 p.m. in the 1500 block of Quinif Drive in an area north of Pontiac Trail and east of South Commerce Drive.
