A 29-year-old man leads police on a chase after threatening several customers and stealing a car at a store, ending in a suspected intententional head-on crash, injuring a 50-year-old woman on Grand River Road in Burns Township, Michigan

A bizzarre incident left two people injured two people in Burns Township, Michigan Friday morning. At 4:30 AM Jason Cleveland was getting his coffee at the Windmill Point Party Shop. A man walked in, asking him if he was driving a pickup truck parked in the front. After responding "Yes, I am," the man pulled out a large knife, threatening Cleveland. Cleveland then threw a bottle of water at the knife-wielding man, who ran out the door, grabbing a woman in a choke-hold and taking her to her car as employees called 911. An off-duty officer was in the parking lot of the store as he saw the man forcing the woman and himself into her car. A struggle then ensued between the man and the police officer, who fired a round before the man let go of the woman and took off in his vehicle. A police chase began, with the man leading police five miles along Grand River Road. The chase ended when the man hit a second vehicle head-on, sending himself and a 50-year-old woman to the hospital. Based on dash-cam footage, police believe the man was suicidal and had intentionally caused the accident. Police are waiting to interview the 29-year-old man and do not yet know if drugs or alcohol played a role in this incident.
