Timothy Eugene Dougherty, 42, was working at a site in the 6100 block of Alaska Ave. SE near Thornapple Dales Dr. SE in Caledonia Township when he was hit by the grader that was being driven by another road commission employee, authorities told 24 Hour News 8. It happened just after 8 a.m.
The driver of the grader did not see the man, and called the incident a “horrible accident.” Dougherty was described as a hard worker with a positive attitude. “He had such enthusiasm for his work. Whenever I came in contact with Tim, you could tell he loved his work. He loved the people he was working with,” said a Kent County Road Commission official.
