Cody Johnson, 26, killed in pickup–taxi van crash on South Summerton and East Broadway near Mount Pleasant, Michigan

Police say a 26-year-old Virginia man is dead and seven people were injured when a taxi van heading to a casino struck a pickup on South Summerton and East Broadway near Mount Pleasant. The man was a passenger in the pickup, which failed to stop at a flashing red light. The vehicle was struck by the taxi van, which had the right of way. The pickup driver – a 31-year-old also from Virginia – was taken to a hospital for treatment. The taxi driver was a 28-year-old Mount Pleasant man. There were five passengers in the taxi, a 22-year-old man, a 22-year-old woman, two 24-year-old women, and one 50-year-old man, all of whom suffered various injuries requiring hospitalization at McLaren Central Michigan.
