1 killed in rollover crash south of Holland

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of 138th Avenue and 64th Street in Laketown Township, between Holland and Saugatuck, according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office. Witnesses told the sheriff’s office that the driver of an eastbound Volkswagen Beetle failed to stop at the intersection and drove into the path of a northbound pickup truck, causing a crash. The Beetle was shoved into the ditch at the northeast corner of the intersection. It rolled over, leaving both people inside suspended upside down.

The passenger, 69-year-old Nancy Russell of Florida, was removed from the vehicle but was pronounced dead on scene. The driver, 72-year-old Hermina Overway of Holland, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver and passenger of the pick-up suffered minor injuries but refused treatment on scene.
