Kuperus was wearing his seat belt, the sheriff’s office said, but it tore in the crash.
Jordan Kuperus, 18, was driving south on 80th Avenue when he failed to stop at a stop sign at State Road and drove in front of a car operated by Roger Holman, 70. When the cars collided, the force of the collision caused Kuperus' seat belt to tear and we was ejected from the vehicle. Kuperus was treated for serious injures, while Holman was uninjured.
