Car crash in southwestern Michigan kills 2 young women

(08/31/15) - Two young women have died in a weekend car crash in southwestern Michigan. Police identified the victims as 20-year-old driver Lydia McIntosh and 19-year-old passenger Raven Spencer, both from Benton Harbor. Three more passengers, ages 19 or 20, were injured in the Saturday morning crash near South Haven. The crash occurred on Interstate 196 in Van Buren County, 30 miles north of Benton Harbor.

Authorities are looking at weariness as a possible cause of a car crash in southwestern Michigan that killed two young women. Three more passengers, ages 19 or 20, were injured in the crash about 5 a.m. Saturday near South Haven. Deputy Police Chief Natalie Thompson tells the Kalamazoo Gazette one of the injured, a 20-year-old, told investigators that some passengers had fallen asleep before the crash.

Police: Speed led to crash that killed 2

In a Sunday release, South Haven police said that the car was going faster than 90 mph at the time of the crash. They said McIntosh had not been drinking and was not under the influence of drugs.
