Woman struck, killed while helping dog hit by vehicle
Preliminary investigation determined the woman was attempting to retrieve her dog after it had been hit by a vehicle. The driver of that vehicle stopped to help the dog owner.
Moments later, another vehicle traveling east struck the woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Michigan State Police say 44-year-old Jennifer Counterman of Dorr was trying to retrieve her dog, which had been hit by a vehicle, when she was hit by an eastbound SUV.
