The driver of the grader, 55-year-old William Vedder of Ishpeming, was not injured in the accident.
Gilstorff was driving a car on County Road 480 at about 9:00am when she collided with the rear-end of a grader driven by William Vedder, 55, who was plowing the road. Gilstroff and a 3-year-old passenger in her vehicle were taken to the hospital, and while Gilstroff sustained a broken leg, the child was uninjured as he was properly restrained. Vedder was also uninjured in the crash. Authorities say the accident was caused by the rising sun, which temporarily blinded Gilstorff so that she could not see the grader in front of her.
