Two 20-year-old women killed in U.S. 131 crash in Wexford County
Wexford County sheriff's deputies identified the women as Carolena Elowsky and Maura Brandi. Deputies said Elowsky was driving a vehicle north on U.S. 131 about 11:30 a.m. when she lost control of the car and collided with a southbound vehicle.
At 11:30am, a car containing two people driving north on U.S. 131 lost control on the bridge over the Manistee River, possibly due to ice, and entered the oncoming lane before colliding with another vehicle that was driving south. The two people in the northbound vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, while the two people in the other vehicle were both taken to a hospital. Check back for updates.
