The semi truck had broken down and pulled to the side of the road, Purcell said.
Raven was a passenger in a car driven by Herlein, which was northbound on U.S. 131 at about 2:00am. At that time Herlein failed to avoid a semi-truck that was stopped on the roadside because it was disabled, and collided with the truck's rear-end. The collision caused the vehicle to roll, which in turn caused Raven to be thrown from it, leaving her dead at the scene. Herlein sustained injuries described as life-threatening, and is currently in the hospital.
