Driver Killed in Head-On Crash in Lake County

A driver was killed in a head-on collision in Lake County early Saturday night, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The incident happened on Highway 61 near Salaka Road just before 11 p.m. His passenger, 19-year-old Sarah Buscher of Cloquet, suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver, who has yet to be identified, was traveling in the wrong lane of traffic on Highway 61 near milepost 19, when 20-year-old Cole Dreschler of Cloquet hit the car head-on, the state patrol says.

One person is dead after a head- on crash on Highway 61 near Knife River.Authorities say the crash happened on Highway 61 near Salaka Rd. The Minnesota State Patrol reports, a person was driving northbound in the southbound lane when the crash happened around 11 p.m. The driver of the struck car, 20-year-old Cole Dreschler of Cloquet, suffered serious injuries while his passenger, 19-year-old Sarah Buscher, suffered non-life threatening injuries. The identity of the deceased driver has not been released.

State Patrol Says Driver in Fatal Crash was Extremely Drunk

Bergerson, a former Minnesota Power employee, was living in Bonita Springs, Florida, and had a cabin in northeastern Minnesota. Authorities say a North Shore native was extremely drunk when he drove the wrong way and crashed into another car, killing himself and the other driver on the highway between Duluth and Two Harbors. The Star Tribune reports that Bergeron was more than five times over the legal limit. A passenger in his car survived.
