Motorcyclist Michael Albert Scheff, 57, injured in crash with car on Highway 14 in Mankato, Minnesota
Motorcyclist hurt in Hwy 14 crash
Scheff was eastbound on Highway 14 on a 2004 Kawaski Road Star when the vehicle in front of him — a 2004 Ford Taurus also heading eastbound — slowed because there was "an individual clearing debris from the right lane of Hwy 14," the Patrol report stated. Scheff then rear-ended the Taurus.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
