State Patrol Investigating Fatal Two Vehicle Crash

Authorities say just before seven this morning, a car traveling south on Highway 218 in Steele County crossed the center line. It struck another vehicle driven by Paul Ingvaldson. According to the State Patrol, Ingvaldson is listed with serious injuries. Two other names are being withheld pending family notification.

Father, Son Killed in Accident in Steele County

The 79-year-old Blooming Prairie man who was driving the SUV was taken to a Rochester hospital with serious injuries. A father and son from Austin have died in a head-on crash in Steele County. The Minnesota State Patrol says 43-year-old Karl Erickson and his 9-year-old son, Elijah, died after their car crossed the center line and collided with a sport utility vehicle on state Highway 218 near Blooming Prairie around 6:45 a.m. Roads were dry at the time. No alcohol was detected in either driver.
