Minnesota man injured in snowmobile accident

One man was injured in a snowmobile accident in Houghton County Friday morning.

Troopers and other snowmobile riders arrived at the scene. Troopers administered first aid to the victim until Bootjack First Responders arrived with their rescue vehicle.

A 49-year-old man from Andover, MN was riding a snowmobile at around 2:30 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a turn and left the trail, hitting some trees. First aid was administered until first responders could arrive with a rescue vehicle to transport him to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital. The man was reportedly in stable condition, but is going to be flown to a Level 1 Trauma Center in Minnesota for further treatment. Alcohol and speed are believed to have been involved in the accident. Incident is still under investigation.
