Two people killed after a tractor-tanker and car collide on I-10 in Jackson County.

Two people are dead after a Saturday evening crash in Jackson County. A Corporal with the Mississippi Highway Patrol tells us the accident happened around 6:00 Saturday evening. An 18-wheeler collided with a passenger vehicle driven by Kevin Benefield 59, of Moss Point.. Both drivers died in the accident, according to police. He says the 18-wheeler was traveling westbound. The driver lost control, crossed the median and struck a passenger car in the eastbound lanes. The 18-wheeler, driven by Donald Lockhart, 59, was carrying a hazardous material. The tank did not rupture, according to police. The victims' identities will not be released until their families are notified.
