Wreck kills one teen, injures another

Dickinson said a sample of Phillips’ blood has been sent a toxicology lab to test for alcohol or drug content. This, he said, is standard procedure in fatal accidents.

Investigation continues into fatal accident

Investigators say are still looking into the cause of a wreck in Itawamba County Tuesday evening that claimed the life of an Amory teenager.
Alexis Haywood, 17, was a passenger in a car driven by Timothy Dwight Phillips, 18, who was driving on New Chapel Road at approximately 6:00pm and departed the roadway, crashing into a tree. The collision fatally wounded Haywood, and she has been pronounced dead. Phillips was transported to the hospital with severe injuries including head trauma and a broken pelvis, and remains in critical condition. Investigation and toxicology tests are underway to help determine the cause of this accident; check back for updates.
