Elena Miranda, 34, killed and 2 people injured in 3-vehicle crash at Hwy 16 and Sharon Road near Canton, Mississippi

Around 8:00 a.m. a tan 1997 GMC van followed by a silver 1999 Toyota car were traveling west on MS 16. The van slowed to make a left turn into a private drive when a third vehicle, a west bound 2007 Chevrolet Silverado rear-ended the trailing Toyota and sent it into the rear of the GMC van. The GMC van was driven by 54-year-old Ronald Bilbrew of Canton, who suffered minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital. The Toyota was driven by 30-year-old Ruby Lopez Miranda of Carthage, who was transported to UMC with non-life threatening injuries. 34-year-old Elena Miranda of Carthage was a passenger in the back seat of the Toyota. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison Co. Coroner.
