Officer Steve Dove, 47, a Smith County Deputy, was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car in the Silvarena Community east of Raleigh.

According to the Smith County Sheriff's Department, a crash claimed the life of one of their own.

It happened Monday night around 5:30pm.

Officer Steve Dove was driving his motorcycle in the Silvarena Community, located about 7 miles east of Raleigh when he was involved in a two vehicle crash.

The sheriff says that Dove leaves behind a wife and two children.

Officer Dove, age 47, was a patrol deputy for the Smith County Sheriff's Department and an 18 year veteran.
