Shane L. Lutz 30 killed, Amanda M. Lutz 31, seriously injured, taken to hospital, after their car leaves roadway and crashes into culvert.

A Walnut Grove man died Wednesday after he was involved in a crash Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Shane L. Lutz, 30, was a passenger in a 2000 Chrysler Sebring traveling south on Farm Road 173, about 8 miles north of Springfield. The car slid off the left side of the road and struck a culvert.

Amanda M. Lutz, 31, was the driver, the patrol said in a report.

The crash occurred at 3:30 p.m. and both Amanda Lutz and Shane Lutz were taken to Mercy Hospital with serious injuries. Shane Lutz was pronounced dead the next day at 7:37 a.m.

Attempts on Thursday to learn Amanda Lutz’s condition were not successful. According to the report, the driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts.
