A mother and her two children were hospitalized after she wrecked on Interstate 270, causing a traffic mess in west St. Louis County early Wednesday morning.

The crash happened at about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, near Highway 40 (Interstate 64). Two lanes of northbound I-270, before Highway 40, were closed while police investigated the crash.
Town and Country Police Lt. Steve Nelke said it was a one-vehicle crash and the vehicle did catch fire. He did not provide any details about rescue efforts. Three occupants, including the driver, were taken to a hospital, Nelke said. He did not have information on the severity of the injuries.
The Town and Country police and the Missouri Highway Patrol are investigating.
