A crash report indicates the accident happened around 10:00 p.m. when the tire struck two other vehicles before bouncing over a concrete median and hitting Chappell’s car.
One person is dead after an accident on eastbound I-70 near Mid Rivers Mall Drive Saturday night. Police say 76-year-old Jack G. Chappell of Bridgeton, Missouri, was killed when a tire that had fallen off of a towed vehicle hit his car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A crash report indicates the accident happened around 10:00 p.m. when the tire struck two other vehicles before bouncing over a concrete median and striking Chappell’s car. There were no reports of other injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
